Scott Turkington Homer Alaska McDonald 1990 Super Bowl XXIV Commercial

Video of the Super Bowl Commercial Below
In 1990, McDonalds decided to shoot a Super Bowl commercial in my home town of Homer Alaska.  My Uncle Jim, who was living with our family after college caught wind of the casting call.  He decided to pack me and my siblings up in the car and head down for an Audition at the Heritage Hotel in downtown Homer.  For what ever reason, out of all of us, I got a call back for a second audition.
During the call back, I was asked what my favorite sport was, to which I replied "Football!"  They asked me what my favorite team was, and although I didn't have a favorite team, my best friends father liked the Bears so that's the team I went with.  They asked me to jump in the air 3 times and yell "GO BEARS!"  I was slightly embarrassed as a crew of directors and people involved with the commercial looked on, but I gave the most enthusiastic yell as I could.  At the time, I had no idea that the commercial was for a McDonald Super Bowl commercial, but I think my football answer and my winning yell was what ultimately sealed the deal.

Several weeks after the commercial had aired, I came home from School one day to find a row of envelopes laid out on the counter.  I asked my mom who they were for and she told me to look closer.  When I looked at the name on the envelope, they were all address to me!  Apparently they dispersed the money in several payments depending on how many times and when the commercial aired.  I was extremely excited to open them so we sat together and opened them one by one.  To an 11 year old boy, who didn't expect more than $100, I couldn't believe how much it all added up too.  It wasn't a HUGE amount, but it was more money than most 11 year old kids ever dream of receiving.  My parents urged me to put it in the bank and save it for a rainy day.  Years later, I used the money to take a 4 month trip to Brazil.

Over the years, I've found myself trying to describe my 5 seconds of fame to friends and family, but I never had a copy of the commercial to show them.  My parents recorded the San Francisco 49ers Denver Broncos game that year and somewhere in their house is a tape that contains the game and the commercial, but we've never been able to find it.  I've also searched high and low on the internet over the years as well and I've never been able to find it, until yesterday!

Somehow the topic came up at work and me and a coworker tried to find it on the internet.  Our search turned up the same commercial I always find from the series of Super Bowl commercials McDonald did that year.  Unfortunately the one we found wasn't the one I was in.  Later that night I looked one more time and found the same video again.  When I looked at the address in the address bar at the top of my browser, I noticed it said part1 in the url.  I wondered, if I changed the part 1 to part 2, maybe there was another commercial that wasn't coming up in the searches.  Low and behold, when I refreshed the page after changing the address, there it was,  the commercial I had been searching for all these years!

With no further ado, here it is! BTW, don't blink I'm the kid in the chair getting his hair cut at 00:05 to 00:09 hehe
